Strong Early Season Marks as Warriors Open Track & Field Season at Willow Glen Invitational

San Jose, CA - The first race of the Willow Glen Invitational was a winner as the Frosh-Soph girls who kick off the 2018 Track & Field season atop the podium. The team of Sophia Rios, Emily Hidalgo, Julie Price and Hannah Lindstrom crossed the line in 53.94.

Coleman Kyles was the top finisher in the 100 meters running 11.74 into a -1.9 headwind to place fourth in the varsity boys division. And it was a 1-2 finish in the frosh-soph 100 meters as David Shao won with a time of 12.00, Deven Vanderbilt was second in 11.69.

In the frosh-soph girls division Emily Hidalgo ran 14.38 into a brutal -3.7 mps headwind to finish fourth over-all, Hannah Lindstrom was sixth in 14.47 into a -2.4 mps headwind.

Kevin Puorro recovered from a bad start to finish within a tenth of a second of his personal best in 65m Hurdles running 11.09.

Freshman Will Luders had a strong debut performance running the #8 all-time mile time in school history and #2 for freshman. Noah Shinn who just wrapped up basketball capped his first week of track & field with a 5 min mile running 5:00.42. Ben Kaestner made it a trio of impressive runs for freshman running 5:18. In the varsity race Jack Adamson led the way running just 1 second off his personal best finishing in 5:02. Nathan Moore ran a personal best 5:12.

In the field events Brant Baugher led the throws with a mark of 38-11 in the varsity boys shot put. Seth Hoque led the jumpers with a mark of 17-9 in the long jump and 40-7.5 in the triple jump.

The Warriors compete at the K-Bell Invitational at Los Gatos High School March 10th.
