Meet Highlights: Bellarmine & Presentation @ VC

San Jose, CA - Bellarmine and Presentation traveled to Valley Christian to compete in WCAL dual meet action, Wednesday. With a scheduled 6 pm start the twilight meet gave families an opportunity to come cheer and athletes an opportunity to compete "under the lights." It was a successful evening that saw thirteen new additions to the team's Top 10 All-Time list!

Warrior Track & Field started the day strong: The girls 4 x 100 team dropped over a second off their season best, clocking  52.06. The boys also saw a big drop running 43.47. The team of Nick Trofort, Charlie Bostic, Deangelo McKenzie and Javon Sturns, a team of 3 sophomores and one junior, held their own against the top team in the section. They are currently #5 all-time on the team all-time list.

That was followed by multiple season bests in the 1600 meters, three girls dipped under the 6 min mark at the mile: Sophia Patterson (5:53), Hannah Theaker (5:56) and Maggie Theaker (5:58). Deangelo McKenzie dipped under a barrier as well; winning the 110 hurdles in 15.96, a personal best and his first under 16 seconds. Jonathan Sum also ran a personal best 16.69 and moves to #4 in school history.

Three freshman swept the field in the varsity girls 400 meters. Kayla Nanez led the way running a personal best of 62.18 and is closing in on the freshman record. Ashley Clayton (66.11) and Alexis Zenere (66.40) also ran personal bests. The Warriors also saw outstanding performances in the 800 meters as Vanessa Zenere won the race in 2:30, followed by teammate Kiko Li in a personal best 2:31.

Caitlyn Rowland finished atop the podium in both the 100 meters (13.35) and the 300 hurdles (48.74).

It was a good day for the distance crew in the 3200 meters. Joe Renati clicked off consistent 75-76 second laps running negative split to finish in a personal best 10:01 (5:03, 4:58). And it was a big second half that helped Leia Wang to a 10 second personal best as well, finishing in 12:37 (6:26, 6:11). Cameron Lockard also completed a strong double. After running 4:52 in the mile he came back to finish the 3200 in 10:53, his second fastest time of the season.

The field events were stellar again. In the long jump Mitchell Rohr hit a personal best 21-2 and it was Jonathan Sum with a big personal best 19-11. Elena Bruckner won the shot put (52-5) and discus (164-4). Athiya Iese hit personal bests in both shot put (41-4) and discus (113-1). Her mark of 41-4 in the shot put is the #2 mark in CCS.
