A Photojournalistic Journey: RLS Invitational

The banana baton has history... The Warriors competed in the RLS Invitational for the first time in 2011 and forgot batons. Some quick thinking from a parent resulted in today's annual tradition.
Kayla Nanez, pictured above, had a strong performance that earned recognition on the team's all-time list, helping the Lady Warriors to a 3rd place team finish.

Mackenzie Thomas kicked things off with a spectacular opening leg of 10:10. Her split is the fourth fastest in team history.

Sophia Patterson crushed her leg of the relay dropping more than 20 seconds off her personal best!

Katelyn Stone is set to receive a handoff for the third leg of the relay. The freshman was a key contributor that helped the team to a third place finish. All five runners on the varsity girls team earned recognition on the team's all-time list.

Wesley Deffenbaugh has been a welcome addition to this year's squad. He finished with an impressive leg of 8:40 which ranks #8 in team history.

Each 1.6 mile leg at the RLS Relays takes runners over pavement, sand, tree rooted single track and a long uphill on a fire road... No doubt a true cross country experience. Ragav Saran was one of the most improved on the day, he dropped 70 seconds off his time last year!

The Lady Warriors finished 3rd place in the large school division at the RLS Invitational marking the 6th consecutive year they have finished in the medals.
