Ndili Paces Freshman Boys to 2nd Place Finish in WCAL #2 at GoldenGatePark

Golden Gate Park, San Francisco – The Warriors made the journey to San Francisco and it was the freshman boys who once again stole the headlines.  Coming off an impressive Saturday performance at the Clovis Invitational they duplicated their efforts finishing second in the team standings for the second consecutive league meet of the season.  Nedu Ndili led the way with his first sub 18 performance running 17:45, but it was the strength of the pack that followed separated by a mere 38 seconds that solidified their finish.

Cameron Lockard was second across the finish line for the Warriors in 18:22.  It took just 9 seconds for Justin Baraona and Matthew Weeks to follow; Samuel Cuevas (18:58) and Yash Patel (19:00), Wilson Chung (19:15) rounded out the scoring team.  Their second place finish places them in a solid second place behind Bellarmine heading into the WCAL Championship on November 6.

Meet Highlights:

• The lady Warriors are currently ranked #2 in DIII and jumped to #10 over-all in the San Jose Mercury News Rankings following their performance at the Clovis Invitational.  Their fifth place finish puts them currently fourth in the standings heading into the WCAL Championship. 

• Jessica Xu and Karen Mac led the girls Varsity with impressive marks of 20:01 and 20:47.  Making the run even more impressive in that Xu lost a shoe.  Mac moves to number 10 all-time for the course. 

• Jason Li followed up his solid performance last weekend with another one Thursday.  His time of 17:15 is the third fastest all-time for Valley Christian on the Golden Gate Park Course.

• JV Girls finished fifth thanks to a pack of runners led by Megan Gillespie.  Maddie Hoover, Shannon Luu and Annie Yeh all contributed dipping under 8 min pace for the three mile course.

• Maggie Theaker, along with Mayu Yoshikawa and Shannon Kovack led a  solid pack of frosh-soph girls that finished 5^th in the team standings.
