The Valley Christian Boys and Girls Frosh-Soph and JV teams will compete Saturday May 7th at St. Francis High School.

In the distance events Jessica Xu will challenge for a podium finish in both the 1600 and 800 meters and leads a talented group of freshman and sophomore distance runners with a season best of 5:40 in the 1600 meters and 2:35 in the 800.  A slew of distance runners who are looking to break 6 minutes include freshman Karen Mac who has been on the cusp of breaking through the 6 minute barrier the last 4 races.  She enters the race with a 6:01 season best time and will also challenge for a top 10 spot in the 800 meters where she has a season best of 2:38.   Kellianne Connolly also has something to prove and has hovered at the 6 minute barrier as well with a season best 6:06.  She will also look to improve upon her 6th place finish from a year ago and break through the 13 minute barrier in the 3200 meters.  Also looking to dip under 6 minutes is Megan Gillespie.  Running 6:12 at the start of the season she is posed to have her best race yet!

Rachel Goranson and Shannon Luu look to do some work in the sprints and hurdles while Kristin Uda will represent the Warriors in the shot-put.  Goranson has been spectacular in the hurdles this year running 17.8 for the 100 hurdles and 54.4 for the 300 hurdles.  Shannon Luu will be entered in the 400 meters where she has a 1:06 best for the one lap race and will look to break through the 30 foot barrier in the triple jump where she enters the event with a jump of 29-9.  Kristin Uda has a season best of 25-10 and will look to breakthrough in her last meet of the season.

Mesfun in the 3200 meters at the Dublin Distance Inv.
For the Boys, a small contingent of Freshman and Sophomores will represent the Warriors.  The distance runners are led by Eyobed Mesfun who has been steadily improving throughout 2011.  Getting personal best in every event he has run this year from the 400 to the 3200 (currently #9 all-time for the Warriors) Mesfun will turn his attention to the 1600 and 800 meters.  He will be joined by Alex Ascencio in the 1600 looking to break 5 minutes for the 4 lap race.  He has been close running 5:02 earlier this season.  Alex George and Damien Hochmuth will join Mesfun in the 800 and look to dip under 2:20 for the first time this season.
