Girl's Team End of the Year Awards

Congratulations to the end of the year award winners:

Runner of the Year: Morgan Lira
Morgan has blossomed into a tenacious competitor and brought home victories at the Early Bird and Clovis Invitationals before winning her first WCAL Championship in November.  Leading the team not just on the trails she stepped into the co-captain role this year and put together service projects for the team to serve the community's homeless.  Morgan is a tireless worker, a devoted runner, and has an amazing heart for God.  She earned Mercury News honors for Athlete of the Week in September and was named to the All-WCAL and All-CCS Teams.

Warrior Award: Emily Blaha
If there was an athlete that embodied this award it would be Emily.  Not only an outstanding athlete (she has placed in the top 15 in CCS the last three seasons) she has a 4.4 GPA and is the leader of the team.  She brings an inspiring dedication and devotion to the team that is unmatched and has been the team captain the past two seasons.  She was named to the San Jose Mercury News All-County team.  Next year she will compete for Navy in NCAA Division 1 where she will serve our country by attending the academy.

Most Improved: Sarah Blaha
This season Sarah Blaha brought a maturity and leadership to the team that helped the Warriors have one of their most successful seasons ever.  Plagued by injury her first three seasons she took her Junior year off and after some convincing she joined the team.   Cross training in the pool many days of the week her dedication payed off as she was outstanding this season finishing as the Warriors #3 runner most of the season!

Freshman of the Year: Jessica Xu
Jessica set the pace for the freshman this year and was a major contributor on the Varsity team this season.  She ranks amongst the top 20 all-time runners for the Warriors and had her best race at Golden Gate Park where she ran 21:13 for 5k.  Scoring in the WCAL and CCS Championships she earned a Varsity letter.

Most Improved Frosh-Soph: Karen Mac
Karen improved steadily throughout the year and ended the season with a superb finish at the WCAL Championship where she finished 5th in the JV division.  She contributed to the team by scoring in multiple varsity races earning her Varsity letter.  Her best performance came at the WCAL meet at Shoreline where she finished the 3 miles in 21:54, the #15 time in school history.
