Kellianne Connolly and Morgan Lira showed off their summer fitness in the last Los Gatos All-Comer Meet of the summer Thursday. Connolly doubled in the 1500 and 5k races running a personal best of 5:53 in the 1500 meters to kick off the night. Later that evening she doubled back and averaged 7:20 pace through 3 miles putting her fitness well ahead of where she was last summer and is posed to be a major contributor for the girls team this season.
After a 3-4 mile run earlier that day with the team, Morgan Lira also entered the 5,000 meters finishing in 19:52 under the lights of the Los Gatos Track. Still feeling steeplechase fever, Lira doubled back 5 minutes later entering the 300 meter Hurdles running a time of 60.3, just off of her PR set earlier this summer while training for the steeplechase.
The Lady Warriors look to qualify for the State Championship for the 5th consecutive year. All of the runners have been working hard this summer and are devoted to be a top contender in the D3 title race.
