Alumni News: Kristin Sato excelling at UCSD

Valley Christian Alumni and UC San Diego sophomore Kristin Sato continues to find success at the collegiate level being named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 21-27.

The Bay Area native excelled at the annual Triton Invitational at Triton Track & Field Stadium this past Saturday, April 26, packed with over 1000 athletes representing more than a dozen countries, including several Olympians and Olympic hopefuls. Sato was the lone individual event winner for UCSD, leaping to a season-best 39’3” to take the top spot in the triple jump. The mark improved on her existing NCAA provisional qualifier of 39’1”. Sato out-distanced 15 competitors from programs like Oregon State, UCLA, San Diego State and Cal Poly Pomona. She also went 17’ 8.25” in the long jump, placing 15th among 30 participants who registered a fair attempt.

In high school Sato set the school record in the long jump and the triple jump for the Warriors. Additionally was CCS and WCAL Champion in those events respectively.
