For the past 5 years the Boys Varsity Cross Country team has been on a steady rate of improvement, acuminating last season in 2012. Dean Barron and Ian Karlsson set the tone in 2007 and 2008; Joe Garcia in 2009. In 2011 Sean Davis won the first CCS Championship in school history and led the Warriors to numerous records as an individual and a team. The upward trend continued into 2012 led by seniors Eyobed Mesfun, Alex Ascencio and Ryan Ensor, as they set the team record at Crystal Springs with all runners running in the 17 minute or under range. Of that record breaking team, three varsity runners return with a slew of new talent eager to make their mark in team history. A trio of top performers from last year’s team return to lead the way.

Jason Li enters the season with a personal best of 17:33 at Crystal Springs is coming off a spectacular spring where he finished the season as one of the top frosh-soph 800 & 1600 runners in the WCAL running 2:05 and 4:45.

Jeremy Dong qualified for the Cross Country CCS Championship last season after running 17:38 on the Crystal Springs course at the WCAL Championship. He followed that up with a respectable spring running 4:55 for 1600 and 10:50 for 3200.

Nathan Lynch missed the last half of the cross country season in addition to the first half of track but is fully recovered ending the season with respectable times in the 1600 & 3200 at the WCAL Finals. He has pushed the miles this summer averaging 70 miles per week and is a leader on this year’s team.

Peter Enfantino has found his grove and is expected to have an impact on this year’s varsity team. After finishing last cross country season with a modest 20:04 at Crystal Springs things started clicking in the sprin running 5:15 for 1600 and 11:28 3200. Joining him in the varsity push is Samuel Han. Running 18:59 at Crystal Springs at last year’s WCAL Championship he had a solid spring running 5:20 and 11:32 respectably. Han is perhaps the most consistent runners when it comes to training as he has set the goal and on track to run 360 days in 2013.

Dean DeMoss had some solid performances as last season running 18:33 at Crystal Springs, a top time for a freshman. He also saw success on the track running 5:20 for 1600 and 11:26 for 3200. Also looking to have an impact on the varsity team is junior Tejas Reddy who finished last season running 18:52 at the WCAL Championships.

Freshman Impact: It is one of the largest and strongest freshman classes in recent history for the Warriors. Chiedum Ndili, Yash Patel, Justin Barona, Newman Hu, Mathew Milner and others make this year’s team a threat for the record books once again.
