Alumni News: Sean Davis In Pursuit of Sub 4 Glory!

The Husky Invite was a reunion of sorts for the Davis family as siblings Sean and Jenna Davis both competed in their first indoor meet of the season.

Sean Davis’s opened his season setting his eyes on history blasting a 4:12.69 for the full mile in his collegiate track debut. His time converts to a personal best, about three seconds better than his top time from last year and is a strong showing for the UCLA Freshman. More impressively Davis looks to join USA Track and Field immortality by running a sub 4 minute mile in the years to come, a feat less than 400 Americans have accomplished. “It was a good first race of the year, but I got a long way to go, these college boys can roll.”

Davis is realistic about how hard it is to break the 4 minute mile barrier and in turn brings an intense focus and determination to practice with him every day.  “I think about dropping those 13 seconds every practice”

Also competing at the Husky Invite was Sean's sister Jenna Davis, a 2010 Valley Christian graduate who is currently competing for Cal Poly.  A finalist in the 800 meters at the California State Championship as a Senior, Jenna won her heat in 2:13.49.
