Alumni News: Blaha Fighting For Travel Squad Role at Navy

Emily Blaha (Valley Christian class of 2011) is finding her stride on the Navy team finishing 22nd in their season opener finishing the 5k race in 19:41.  Navy swept the field scoring the lowest possible score of 15 points finishing well ahead of runner up West Virginia.

"Today was a great start for everyone," said Navy head coach Karen Boyle on the team's website at NavySports.com.

"It's nice to have so many experienced runners returning along with a strong plebe class.  They should all contribute right away."

Blaha is putting in her dues as a freshman and is working hard to be amongst the top 14 on her team to make the travel squad.   Her next race will be the Salty Dog Invitational on September 17th.

The annual Army-Navy dual will take place on Oct. 14 in West Point, N.Y., followed by the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 29 back in Bethlehem.
