Davis Wins 1600 meters at Sacramento Meet of Champions

Shelby Smallwood and Sean Davis competed in the Sacramento Meet of Champions Saturday. 

Shelby Smallwood placed on the podium in both the 100 meters and 200 meters.  Running into a strong headwind she finished 2nd in the 100 meters with a time of 12.54 and 3rd in the 200 meters with a time of 25.98.

Leading wire to wire Davis won the Boys 1600 meters with a season best time of 4:23.41.  "The goal was to take the race out at 65-66-67 and then relax and then by the third lap we are bangin'."  Davis said in an interview after his race.  After hitting the 800 in 2:14 Davis picked up the pace hitting a 66 second third lap to come by 1200 in 3:20.  He then made his move with 400 to go running away from the field closing in 63 seconds.
