GIRLS PRESEASON HOT 100

It requires much hard work in practices, true dedication in the off-season and clear execution of race day to be considered among the creme de la creme programs, and here they are. There are nearly 1,050 girls cross country programs in California, which also reignes supreme the deepest state in the nation when it comes to girls team talent. Here's our effort to sort out California's "Hot 100" teams--the top 10% if you will.

Ranked #97:

Valley Christian Warriors (Central Coast Section)

Coach:
Joshua Small
League: BVAL (Note: Warriors are in the WCAL)
2009 Finish: 20th in State Division 3 Finals
Returnees: All five scorers from state meet

2010 Outlook:
With all scorers returning from last year's state finalists, the Warriors are looking to make a big dent into the CCS hierarchy this fall. Junior Morgan Lira is the clear pacesetter after the spiffy 18:51 tour through Woodward Park last November, with Isabel Garcia and Emily Blaha (Rich Gonzalez photo above left) also hovering in the 20-minute range on the championship course.
