2011 Cross Country - Varsity Girls

Morgan Lira (Team Captain)
Lira was the #1 runner for the Warriors in 2010 and had an outstanding season winning the Early Bird Invitational, Clovis Invitational and the WCAL Championship.  She was named the Mercury News Athlete of the Week in September after winning the Junior race at the Early Bird Invitational.  In 2010 she was named to the Mercury News All-County team after earning All-league and All-CCS honors. On the track this past spring she set personal bests in every event she ran including 5:09 for 1600 meters and 11:05 for 3200 meters.

Isabel Garcia (Team Captain)
One of the top 800 meter runners in the CCS since her freshman year, she is a two time State Qualifier and CCS Champion as a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay. Boasting personal bests of 2:17 for 800, 5:14 for 1600 and 11:43 for 3200, Garcia has shown amazing range and is one of the most consistent runners for the Warriors.  She has a personal best of 19:38 at Woodward Park in the 2009 State Championship and despite missing much of the 2010 season with a hamstring injury she finished as the Warriors #3 runner last season.

Ashley Lara
Ashley Lara leads this year's freshman and has already had an impact on the Varsity team finishing as the Warriors #2 runner at the Early Bird Invitational running the 3 mile course in 20:30, the 8th fastest time ever in school history and the fastest ever for a freshman.  A dedicated and motivated runner she finished 2nd in last year's Junior High Cross Country County Championship.  She is also a devoted softball player in the spring and summer and is a welcome addition to this year's team.

Kellianne Connolly
Kellianne started the 2010 season strong as the #3 runner for the Warriors where she ran 21:03 for the Toro Park course.  Connoly broke through at the end of her freshman year at the 2009 State Championships where she ran 21:26 for the Woodward Park course.  This spring she ran personal bests in the 800 and 1600 meter races and will be a key leader and major contributor to this year's squad.

Jessica Xu
Jessica set the pace for an outstanding freshman class in 2010 finishing as the Warrior's #4 runner at the Early Bird Invitational.  One of her best races of the year came at the WCAL meet at Golden Gate Park where she ran 21:14 for the 3.03 mile course.  She carried that momentum into the spring where she ran 2:32 for 800 meters as a member of the school record setting 4 x 800 meter relay team.  She also ran 5:40 for 1600 meters and 12:44 for 3200 meters.    A dedicated, hard working talent, Jessica will be counted on once again this season.

Karen Mac
Karen had a spectacular freshman season and brings amazing depth to this year's squad.  She led the Varsity team at the second WCAL meet in 2010 running 21:54 for the 3 mile course at Shoreline.  She brought that intensity to the track in the spring where she ran 2:35 for 800 meters and 6:00 for 1600 meters.  She is a focused and determined runner who will have a huge impact on this years team.

Shannon Luu
Shannon surprised us all last season running Toro Park in 22:36 to finish just outside the team's all-time top 20 for the course and has come into the season determined to make this year's varsity team.  She stepped up to compete at the Varsity level at the WCAL #2 meet at Shoreline where she was the team's #2 runner.  This spring she ran 2:48 for 800 meters and flashed her finishing speed running 1:06 for 400 meters.  Shannon has worked hard this summer and will battle for a top 7 spot this fall.

Megan Gillespie
Megan was one of the most consistent runners for the Warriors running her best time at the WCAL #1 race at Golden Gate Park finishing in 23:06.  She stepped up to compete at the Varsity level at the WCAL #2 meet where she finished as the Warriors #3 runner.  She also had an outstanding track season last spring running 6:12 for 1600 meters at the WCAL Frosh-Soph Championship.  Gillespie will look to challenge for a top 7 spot in throughout the 2011 season.

2011 Cross Country - Varsity Boys

Sean Davis
Davis joins the Warriors cross country team after three years on the grid iron.  Davis is the school record holder at 800, 1600, 3200 meters and brings his speed to the cross country team this fall.  In his first two races he set team records including an impressive 15:54 debut on the Toro Park course at the Early Bird Invitational and 16:04 at the Clovis Invitational at Woodward Park.

Ryan Ensor
First year runner Ryan Ensor set the pace for the Boys team finishing as the #1 runner in every race he ran last season.  Earning recognition on the team's all-time list for every course he ran in 2010, his fastest performances came in the second WCAL meet where he ran the 3 mile Shoreline course in 17:41 and followed that up at the Mt. Sac Invitational just two days later running 17:40.  He finished the season with a 26th place finish at the WCAL Championship where he finished the Crystal Springs course in 18:05, his best placing in WCAL competition of the 2010 season.

Dustin Laucella (Team Captain)
Laucella will serve as the Team Captain for the 2011 season.  His determination and willingness to work hard is unmatched as he takes himself to his physical limit every race.  Dustin had a breakthrough track season last spring running personal bests in the 1600 and 3200 meters at the WCAL Championship.  He was the Iron Man on the track, often running 4 events at a time (1600, 800, 3200 and 4 x 400) for no other reason than he loves racing.  Last season at Shoreline he ran a time of 18:53 for 3 miles and finished as the Warriors #2 runner all season.

Alex Ascencio
Alex ran impressive times on the track (nearly cracking the 5 minute barrier) and brings a tough attitude to the team this fall.  He ran an impressive 2:14 for 800 meters and 5:02 for 1600 last spring.  In 2011 Ascencio has taken a big step in the early going this fall running 19:10 for 5k at the Nike Pre-Nationals and 19:09 at Woodward Park.  He will be relied on heavily in the team scoring this fall.

Eric Ortiz
New comer Eric Ortiz has already proven he will be a huge contributor to this year's team finishing #4 at the team time trial and again at Pre-Nationals where he ran the 5k course in 18:51.  He has continued to be one of the most consistent runners this season and is a welcome addition to this year's team.

Eyobed Mesfun
An outstanding runner on the track Eyobed joins the cross country for his first season and has an immediate impact running 18:20 for 5k at the Nike Pre-Nationals.  He has followed that up with impressive performances at the WCAL meet at Golden Gate Park running 18:12 and then following that up just 2 days later at the Clovis Invitational where he ran the Woodward Park course in 18:26, the 4th fastest time in team history.
